Dir. John Sayles, USA, 1984, 108 mins. Selected by Shezad Dawood. Joe Morton stars as ‘Brother’, an alien and escaped slave who settles in Harlem, New York. With the exception of his three-toed feet and lack of speech, he resembles an ordinary young black man. While his supernatural abilities lead him to gainful employment, his future on earth becomes endangered when two extra-terrestrial bounty hunters attempt to bring him back to his native planet.
