Other Worlds- Making room for stories
Venue, Timing and Cost
Other Worlds is an exhibition of intriguing new storytelling collaborations between pairs of writers and other creative artists, which turns an atmospheric, dilapidated building in the heart of historic Oxford into a giant storytelling compendium. The building was once Oxford’s main post office and telephone exchange and is soon to be transformed into The Story Museum. Before this takes place, Other Worlds is an introduction to the Museum’s potential and a celebration of the power of storytelling in many different forms, from the written word to sound, film, video - and even plants. Twenty-five partnerships will put stories into the Museum, taking their cues from the evocative environment and creating intriguing and playful installations in 25 different spaces, with a surprise around every corner. Oxford is a magical city of stories, with authors such as Lewis Carroll, JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis and Philip Pullman taking us on wonderful imaginary journeys. Other Worlds continues the tradition. Presented with support from Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts.
