Closing Date:

Salary / Fee:
on request

Steeple Aston Choral Society is looking for a musical director for our friendly group of singers. We are a group of about 20 to 25 adult men and women from Steeple Aston and the surrounding villages near Bicester and Banbury. We do not have auditions and welcome anyone who wants to sing with us. Our members range in age from mid 30's up to 70's. Some of our members can read music and sight read and some can't. We all just enjoy singing and preparing for our three annual concerts. The Choir generally perform traditional choral works and anthems. We most recently performed Handel’s Coronation Anthems, Faure’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Jonah Man Jazz and are currently rehearsing Captain Noah and his Floating zoo for our summer concert. We plan to start rehearsing Dvorak Mass in D in September 2012. We have had a number of different directors in the last few years all of whom put their own individual stamp on the choir and we would like to find someone who could develop us and improve our singing further. We are lucky to posses, for a village choir, a strong core group of singers who are willing and capable of taking on solo work, only using hired soloists if absolutely necessary. We rehearse at the Village Hall in Steeple Aston on Monday’s at 8pm If you are interested in taking on our choir please ring choir chairman Jenny Evans on 01869 349099or email me at jevansvn@aol.com for more information.
