Prophecies, histories, legends and law is an exhibition presenting thirty-five master drawings and prints depicting stories and figures of the Hebrew Bible, from Adam and Eve to David and Goliath. These are stories that lie at the heart of three world religions and are the link between Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Stephen Willats is joined by Ute Meta Bauer to discuss his recent practice, with a focus on new work commissioned by Modern Art Oxford and developed in collaboration with Oxford residents. Ute Meta Bauer is Dean of the School of Fine Art at the Royal College of Art, London. For over twenty-five years she has worked as a curator of contemporary art, film, video and sound, with a particular focus on artistic practice that spans different disciplines.

This special event for teachers and education facilitators provides an informal setting for viewing and discussing the Stephen Willats exhibition and includes talks and activities designed to explore approaches to engaging with the art. Paul Luckraft, Curator at Modern Art Oxford, will lead a gallery talk and discussion about the artist’s work at 6pm.

In 1967 Archigram, a group of radical young architects and artists produced an architectural intervention of multi-layered sound and projection through the galleries at Modern Art Oxford.
For Beyond Architecture REMIX 2013 Archigram return to the gallery to recreate their original work, incorporating additional contemporary technologies and new content as a means of drawing a connecting line between present and past.
