I am a painter and printmaker working in Oxford city. I make painting s and prints with the intaglio press. These are usually etchings on copper or zinc and painterly monotypes using the intense etching inks. I also run regular short courses on etching suitable for beginners or 'refreshers' at the Oxford Printmakers and day workshops at my home studio on "Exploring Print" (drypoint, monoprint, collagraph techniques). I have a small portable press which I use for outreach projects at museums and schools. See webpage rahimakenner.com

I work in oils in a bold figurative style with fluid brush work and a strong use of colour and tone. I enjoy painting the human form and portraiture is a speciality. I always show attention to detail and pride myself that I can get a likeness of anyone who sits for me.

I am equally happy capturing the intimate atmosphere of a cafe or the fleeting changes of a busy town scene. I paint what I encounter. I have put on one man shows and am also a member of Oxford Art Society where I regularly exhibit.

I've worked as an artist and illustrator for over 20 years, and I'm also a portrait artist (in both watercolour and oils), storyboard artist, and member of the Society of Architectural Illustration. My illustration website is at www.sallybarton.co.uk As an illustrator I use both traditional (mostly watercolour) and digital media, often combining the two. I particularly love Photoshop and receive quite a lot of commissions that involve using this to manipulate, as well as to create new, images.

My practice is involved in working with mixed media. My work has looked at the relationships between objects and people. I am interested in what role art and philosophy plays in people’s lives and it’s an effect on the world at large. I am interested in the self, the interpretation of memory and the recurring trauma.

In my film work, I have created films since the start of 2007. I am interested in using film as another form of painting to tell a narrative or as a living painting. Film like Apples, I was trying to produce and sense of wonder.
